the easiest way to bleed brakes is to not fight gravity and reverse bleed them by filling the calipers slowly and let the air rise to the top with a syringe or a pressure bleeder and one squirt doing it the conventional way and your all done. but with only 12 miles on used pads and rotors there gonna take some time to break in you can speed the process up by sanding the pads flat or ride around with the brakes draggin

Personally, I'd find a nice quiet parking lot and do some hard braking passes. Dragging the brakes while riding is asking to have your fronts lock on you.

Thats what my uncle told me to do so i am. He is a police motorcyclist, he was very mad when I was considering riding around with the breaks dragging. He told me that my break light would be on all the time, other road users would have no idea when I was actually trying to stop, they could more than likely drive over me and well.... kill me. Then he gave me a lecture.

All bike riders should at all times consider every other road user to be a idiot, your vulnerable at all times, if your an idiot then you will get injured and possibly killed. He is really concerned that a "Yamaha Certified Technician" is advising that people should ride around with there breaks dragging (break light on) blah blah

He has a point but then again I have done it and in some very rural back roads and using my mirrors to see if any thing came up behind me (i.e. the bit he did not mention or you failed to quote "rider awareness") then use sense and come off the brakes.

I might add that most brake lights pressure or spring actuated do not come on immediately any thing is applied to the lever there is ALWAYS some play in the system or else the lights would come on at the slightest bump.

my uncle says that well... the guy is wrong (I can't print what he actually said, it's abusive) we are talking about the front break, there's no way (say's my uncle) that the front break light switch would come on unless the front break is applied!

First, it's "brakes" - sorry, pet peeve.

Second, if you are dragging the brakes enough to skim the pads, you ARE activating the brake light.

Third, there is only ONE brake light (cluster), activated by either switch. There is no front brake light / rear brake light.

I meant the front brake light switch, which will activate the REAR brake light!!!!!! thanks for your useless input!! Ive bought new pads, I will install them.

I suggest that this thread terminates as of now, a solution is found and further dialogue is pointless, both of you have made your points the reader can make up their own minds as to the validity of the argument put forward.

What happened to my thread? Haha thanks for the input guys i ordered new pads and found some rotors at my local junk yard (:
But my brakes seem to be much better now a few days later.
