Do you have a multi meter to check the voltage at the lights ( I will assume yes since you checked the battery at 3k) But after that it might just be getting some new bulbs. If you put them on and then they blow again (I know... expensive test) then it's the vr and you need to shut the bike off IMMEDIATELY.

alright, i tryied taking the bulbs out but i couldnt get it. do they just twist out or what??
1994 fzr 600, 9300 miles, d and d slip on.

If memory serves me correctly there is a keeper and then the assy pulls out. Sorry I'm not near my bike.

To remove the bulbs from the headlamp there is a plastic cover on each light assembly. This cover is a snap on deal and you just pop it off with your fingers. Then there are the connectors attached directly to the bulbs which must be removed. Next there is a rubber grommet that surrounds the back of each light assembly that you must pull off - again just use your fingers. Each bulb is retained by a metal ring. It normally has a bright finish and is gold colored. Twist this ring 1/4 turn with your fingers and you will be able to remove the ring and the bulb. If you have to use tools, pry, or hit anything you are doing it wrong.

so i checked the voltage of the headlights while running and it was around the same as the battery

Try swapping the bulb. Do only one..

great info! Currently having close to the same problem. If the weather holds tomorrow ill be out checking all ur guys' ideas. !

so the wiki says 40-volts to 60 volts the vr is bad right
