OK OK,
When you say the clutch side leg, that has no thread for the axle in it right?
So leave the diam of the axle the same that side but make it longer and thread the bit that sticks out.
The fat axle bit slides in from the right and the shoulder (ie the difference between diameters butts up hard to the left hand fork leg and is secured by the axle lock nut.
As an experiment I would make a sleeve that went over the original axle and thro the right hand fork leg & the wheel right up to the LH leg.
The benefit of this is a sleeve is cheap to make (compared to an axle (unless you are just turning down another bikes axle & threading it for your needs)) Also getting a sleeve lenght right to:-
a} get the wheel centered
b} cinched to the right torque without locking the bearings will be easier.
c} If the results are not better than the original handling you have not "lost" any parts in the process

Just to check, for a confused Brit-is that the foxeye,or thundercat?yamaha_george wrote:THNX Bossragedigital wrote:I used YZF600 forks, 96+, if memory serves me correctly. I do believe that either in 96 or 97 is when the YZF forks started coming with pre-load, compression and rebound adjustments.

that is a standard dual headlight from pre-92 (I think all 92's were single) and then reverted to dual.
Foxeyes are not round but kinda oriental looking thundercat I have not seen but is I believe the name for a post 95-96???? fzr600. in the euro-market
Stand to be corrected on that ........
Re: fork brace what do ya think?
That part i now understand George, and to my understanding your spot on,but just to confirm-after the single headlight[92 model]we didnt get the dual headlight again-we got the foxeye?yamaha_george wrote:Yam,

So does that mean i can take the forks out of the yokes on a thundercat, and put them into the yokes of a 92 3he?
If i understand correctly,i would also have to change the wheel, brakes, muddy, but that seems a small price to pay,for rebound, compression adjustment+the thicker axle, which is the main reason that i like the idea of this upgrade.
Re: fork brace what do ya think?
i dont know what the fzr axel is but the diameter of the yzf600r is about 17mm the battery in my caliper is dead so i cant give an exact if it helps
ones life is the way it is only because you allow it make it happen.

Yam,
do a SEARCH in the Forums the info about that swap must be there some place seems too obvious not to be unless it is a EURO model thing .
we will have to see what Darrin or one of the other FZR historians say...................

Re: fork brace what do ya think?
the yzf600 forks wont fit into the fzr tripple cause there bigger at 41mm so you have to change the tripples too but i put a set of 97+ yzf600 forks an tripples into the fzr600 frame its a straight bolt up. you just need the other parts for those forks (clip ons etc.)
