I am talking about a stick welder.
You are going to find it very tricky to get a wire feed gun down in the spark plug well and have any ability to control the arc, much less be able to make a bead around a piece of bar stock. Vision will be an issue too.

I had the same problem and what I did was turn the motor over without the switch on, the ceramic popped out leaving just the threaded part in the cylinder, I sprayed WD40 around it and left ot soak a few hours, got an easy out and it backed out easy.It should work.. after you get it out use a threat tap to clean the threads out, ou should change the oil due to metal shavings entering the cylinder. hope this works for ya.
I have tried turning the motor over and that ceramic would not budge, I still have a few more things to try and Nate (thatkid) is hooking me up with a new head also, I think the previous owner may have crossthreaded the plug in, as nothing I have tried so far will even start to budge it at all.

for what it's worth, I had the same issue a couple of years back with a VW block and an easy-out did the trick. Either way good luck! Sounds like the "new to you" head would be the easiest way to go. Some great advice here so far. Fantastic site, keep up the good work!
Well I got an update, not totally out yet but I finally got the ceramic out last night. My buddy had it happen to him a while ago on one of his older bikes. He said to take a punch and continue to tap the ceramic with the engine running, once the ceramic cracks all the way through the compression should shoot it out. After about 40 minutes of running while tapping, tapping while off letting it cool down (gets HOT quick) and tapping while running the ceramic finally came spitting out. Now it is off to the easyout today. I will let some PB Blaster soak for a while today and hopefully it will be out and running on all 4 cylinders again. I will keep you posted. Thanks again for all the suggestions.

Damn east-out's won't budge it, I have tried 3 different styles and nothing, so it looks like the head is coming off after work today, at least a start of it anyway

Thanks, did not get as much done as I would have liked but I can only use the shop till 6:00, I get out at 5:00. After getting the tank off and carbs out and looking around, I decided to unplug a few more connectors and a few extra bolts and just pull the motor and I will just mess with it more in the open. I will keep the updates coming and I will get some pics up sooon too.

Hi,
just dropping the engine top forward may be enough.
I know you said the work place has only wire feed welders ,none of your work crew have a stick welder , hire one maybe ? Thanks for keeping us informed.
If the welder is not on you will have to soak that head or put it in an oven to be heated to break what ever gunge is holding that F*ing plug in else you could strip the thread !!!!!
George, i got a better look at it with everything out of the way and I think the PO crossthreaded the plug when it was installed so I think I am going to have to take the head to a machine shop after I get it out to have them get it out and poss repair if needed. Will have it out and a better idea this weekend.

Well head is off and I was correct, it is for sure crossthreaded. You can look up from the bottom of the spark plug hole and there is about 3/4 of the threads. So he tightened it up about 1/4 of the way down the threads and stopped, so off to the machine shop on Monday to hopefully get it fixed. Will keep you posted.
