Is this worth it?

Paid $2k for my '91. Probably more than it's worth, but it looked to be very clean when I got it (I think I've found most of the dirty little secrets now). It's been more of a project than I hoped for when I got it; but it's also forced me to learn a lot about tearing a bike apart.

I paid $1500 for my '94 with 23k miles. Both side fairings have chunks missing. Windshield was damaged (picked up speedscreen on ebay for ~$50). Motor/Trans seem to be in great shape. I am by no means a motorcycle expert, but just another similar buyer. This is my first bike. I wasn't worried about the looks so much. Soon I will be looking in to what it takes to do a carb clean/adjustment and valve adjustments. Not sure if the bike needs this at this time but I'm doing it more for the learning experience than anything else.
