The top portion of the needle is straight and the tapered area is the rest of the needle where it gradually allows for more fuel.

I think you should try the 126s before the 130s. Once you go with the 130s, then you richen up a lot of the circuit and you'll end up putting your needles on the #2 clip position to try to combat it.

Make certain that your emulsion tubes are either fairly new or in really good condition. When they wear, then you have to make up that wear by leaning out the needles even more.

The reason you can do the "ram air" is due to the YZF carbs. You can't do that with stock FZR carbs.
Im pretty sure it's a 92 motor"3HH-100639"

You should beable to use stock FZR carbs for ram air.The key to making ram air work is equalizing the pressure in the float bowls.As long as you run the equalization tubes from the front of the ram air ducts to the float bowl vents on the stock carbs it should work just the same.
