Can it be anything other than my regulator?

I put off wiring my new regulator for a year or so, because I have another bike. When I finally sat down and wired it it only took a couple hours and a trip to the hardware store. Though the engine started knocking soon after. Good to hear you're back on the bike. I can't ride for a few months and its driving me crazy.
