Hey all my 92fzr600 41,000 miles on it
Seems likes its been having clutch issues lately
I don't recall if it was like this when I bought it but when in first gear it won't go past 5k without feeling like it's struggling so I have to switch out to 2nd gear quick
Then sometimes it will do the same in 2nd struggle to get up to high rpm if I ease into the throttle it will climb slowly no problem but if i try to go WOT it slaps back into neutral all other gears are fine
Sorry I'm sorta a no on and need to know if it's worth throwing money at it to fix up/ make my own
I'm somewhat mechanically inclined I have the clymers manual and a large range of tools
The bad part is no garage to work on it in ( it's in a storage unit for the winter)
I usually take my tax money and buy craigslist specials for the range of 800-1500 So I have that much to play with so question is .. Would it be worth it tol fix it up buy ordering parts online as needed or get a used fzr600 for parts as a parts bike .? Any input would be greatly appreciated I really like my FZR but don't know which is,the best route to go . I wanted to do this work in the winter but lack of space and it being in storage really makes it hard to have it up to snuff by the spring so I would have to hold off work till then

Re: POSSIBLE CLUTCH ISSUES
Hey- I'm not so sure that is a clutch issue. Seems like a gearbox problem. When you say it struggles to get to 5K RPMs, you mean it cuts out, slips?
So in 3rd it will go above 5K rpms no problem?
I'm no expert....hopefully someone with more experience will chime in. But with 41K miles, I'd probably but a cheap good running parts bike instead of going through the expense of freshening that one up. I bought my 93 for $1000 and it only has 18K on it. As you know, they are out there. Good luck man

Re: POSSIBLE CLUTCH ISSUES
Yeah, struggling to rev out is not a clutch problem - when the tach zings to redline, THAT'S a slipping clutch.
Sounds like you have a combination of carb mid-range issues AND a gearbox that's on the way out.
