Got new crankshaft+rods now but what to do with those o-rings? Should i put them there or what?

Cylinder O-Rings?
What is the point of these four o-rings on the cylinder block? My fizzers engine broke and started look for the reason/changing parts. The o-rings were all over the engine and some of them blocked those "oil sprays" or what they are called.. and pickup was full of them. Why are those needed, what holds them at their place?
