not enough gas

Post by mossyoakboy »

ok guys, so its been awhile since ive been on here, good to be back though, i need some ideas from you guys. i took my bike to a dealership to have an electrical diagnosis done on it because something wasnt right, they got that all sorted out for me but also told me the bike still wouldnt start and they said its not getting enough gas, i am picking it up on tuesday and im gonna check the easy stuff like the fuel filter and check to see if the petcock is clocked or something crazy before i give them $450 to go through the carbs, clean them, put them back on and tune it and see if i cant save the money. any suggestions on to what i could check?

Pilot jets or float levels come to mind. Read through the carb cleaning/tear down thread at the top of this section. You can do this take your time and make good notes and take pics along the way. You may still need the shop to sync your carbs once you cure the starting issue. Unless you are up to teaching yourself how to do that as well.

When cleaning carbs you have to be surgeon thorough as they are precision metering devices.
