Re: remove pistons from brake calipers.
would it be better to buy a used master cylinder for about 25 dollars or spend about 40 on a master cylinder rebuild kit. im not getting enough pressure on the one I have now.
Re: remove pistons from brake calipers.
You said in your previous post that when you press the brake lever you get a little bit of Air/Fluid coming out the Bleeder screw?
Autozone should sell Brake Bleeding pumps 'Mityvac' ; They are expensive, and are really helpful when ever working on your brakes (of just sucking up random fluid, or creating vacuum, ect...)
Here's one on Amazon:
http://www.amazon.com/Mityvac-MV8000-Au ... m_sbs_hi_1
But i think your local auto store would have them too... But basically it sounds like your system is slightly clogged, this is fairly common when brake fluid gets old. This little pump will suck all the nasty stuff out and pull new fluid through, and you should be good to go.

Re: remove pistons from brake calipers.
when I checked the brakes this morning, I removed the master cylinder from the brake lever. Then, using my hand, I pumped the screw that goes into the master cylinder, about 4o times. Nothing happened. I feel the spring inside moving and pumping but I get little spurts to no fluid coming out. Yesterday when I used the same method with the caliper hooked to the lines, when I pumped the master cylinder only one piston came out, and didn't retract, but the other just stood still. I know the majority of my problem is the master cylinder, but I'm debating whether to speed the money to get a rebuild kit or used master cylinder, then I will know for a fact that it will work. Or, I order the pump a pray it works, if not then I would be out of 30 dollars.
Re: remove pistons from brake calipers.
You could use this to upgrade to a radial master with some bluedots.

Re: remove pistons from brake calipers.
Is it a direct bolt on or do I have to do some modifications?
Re: remove pistons from brake calipers.
I just rebuilt my master cylinders and cleaned out my calipers last weekend. Did it all with basic tools, a air compressor and brake cleaner spray. Even reused all the seals. Brakes are 100% functioning now and no leaks.
Re: remove pistons from brake calipers.
how did you get that little circlip out of the master cylinder. I tried with everything and still no luck.

Direct bolt on assuming you have a 1990 or newer FZR.

Re: remove pistons from brake calipers.
Can I get blue dots and a master cylinder for my rear brakes. I thought you could only use them for the front. If the will work for the rear breaks, from what year bike do I get them from. My bike is a 1993.

Re: remove pistons from brake calipers.
Oops...I though you meant the front brakes..sorry...misread... Anyways, it's not worth it to upgrade the rear brakes. They provide 10-15% of the total braking power. If I were you I'd get the rear master cylinder rebuild kit but, make sure it's the master cylinder first. No to little pressure in the brakes probably means that you have air in the lines, rule that out before you start spending money on rebuild kits or brand new rear master cylinders.
