those are precisely the design that Y-Geo was warning us about, I bought a set and put them on just before Y-Geo last visit home, he was not complimentary about my "engineering thinking" likening them to " white play dough teeth " (I am a dentist so I understood what he meant).

Re: Frame sliders? Lowering?
Nik,
good man yep they are similar to those pieces of scrap I took off your bike .
Did we bin them or they hanging on anail at the side of the work bench.?
If you still have them take a picture with that horrible apple gizmo you have & post the pic here please then the guys can see the ovality caused by the forces through the oversized holes and how you had less than a millimeter of metal left before the hole collapsed into a moving oval causinf instability in the height under riding conditions..
Madam will be with you sunday about 17.00 hours OK

Yea I reread over his post after I made mine. Does anybody know of a sufficient set of adjustable dogbones?

Re: Frame sliders? Lowering?
Hi,
I do believe Chris mentioned our two members who make dogbones for lowering and in my first post in this thread I did say that they both make good stuff (having bought a pair fron each (on used on my bike and one used on Nik's bike.
Nate (ThatKid) did say he is currently not in his work shop until the 25th of this month, ReelRazor is around (may not have stock as he does sell quite few as well ) take your pick .............

Re: Frame sliders? Lowering?
I make a set that have slightly higher than stock and slightly lower than stock. Then, later on, if you get an r6 shock you can use them to keep it at stock ride height. Or you could switch back to the oem dogbones with the r6 shock for a slightly lower setup.

I agree that the bottomline is not to compromise the safety of your bike. Good luck!

Bill,
Just for once they do look to have enough "meat" round the holes to be safe
what is the Metals hardness like for wear resistance ?

Re: Frame sliders? Lowering?
Hey guys,
Unless you have INCREDIBLY short inseams, at 5'5" and 5'7", you all shouldn't have any problems handling the bike at it's stock ride height. I'm 5'2" (no, that's not a typo) with about a 26" inseam and get along fairly well with my 600 at the stock height. The only thing I've done is backed the shock preload out a bit (R6 shock with R6 spring) and modified the seat to have less foam. Now, I'll admit that softer preload isn't the ideal solution but since this is a street bike, I'm okay with it. My track bike on the other hand (a 400 which has the same stock ride height as the 600) is actually RAISED about an inch in the rear. On top of that, the suspension is dialed in for the track (which means VERY little rider sag). It's a little trickier moving around the paddock but I still get along okay.
I won't try to talk you out of lowering the bike but I will say that if you do it, don't go crazy with it and make absolutely sure you lower the front accordingly. Otherwise, the bike will handle very awkwardly.

Re: Frame sliders? Lowering?
Hi man, Welcome. im fairly new to this site and dont want to step on anyones toes, but I have a guy that is a professional stunter, and his team makes the most accurate measurement custom parts I have seen. I have heard noting but good information from these guys above and have confidence they will help you thorough it all. just trying to help you, and my buddy. his info is listed below along with thier website for aditional parts that may help you. Alot of them are made to order, and some are already made for immediate shipping. the dogbones he offers are either std steel with powder coating, or a 304 stainless. any combination for 25 bucks shipped is a great deal. just email him and he will give you several options, then just email him a picture with the measurements needed, such as thickness hole to hole length etc... good luck with the Fizzer

Re: Frame sliders? Lowering?
I appreciate everybody's advice, and after giving it some thought, I don't think it's my height that's wrong with me and the bike, I just haven't wanted to admit that I may not have enough leg strength. I also have no previous experience with a bike, so that could add to my problem. Lowering it would just give me better leverage when the bike starts to lean too far over. I'll look into the dogbones linked by willandrip, but I may just end up keeping it stock height and deal with my personal issues of leg weakness.
Re: Frame sliders? Lowering?
You'd have to be pretty weak / injured to have a hard time dealing with the bike. Do some reading on short rider techniques - you may simply be doing it wrong. If a 5'0 woman can ride a frickin' KLR650, you can ride a little FZR600!
