I'll update once the carb is back together. Right now, everything is still torn apart as I'm waiting on float valve gaskets and o-rings to come in. So far, I've only reassembled the slide assy's with the new diaphragms on:fzrbrandon wrote:Nice! Did you have any issues with them slipping out of the groove on the carb body? That's an issue I have now and then so I have to be REALLY careful putting the covers back on. It's as if they shrink over time...
Do you mean the diaphragms shrink over time? If so, I can corroborate that for you! Funny you mention that, because I said the same thing when I got these in the mail and compared them to my old diaphragms. Mind you, I've never worked on a carb before, never even knew what a diaphragm was, well this kind anyways LOL. Comparing the new ones to the old ones, they are absolutely identical in every way. However, when I stacked the new one inside the old one (like stacking cups) it created a slight bulge because the new one is just a hair, I'm talking a HAIR larger than the old one. It's as if the diaphragm shrinks by about 0.25mm or so in bowl circumference over time. It's not a measurable difference, it's only noticeable when you stack them. It's so minuscule that I knew it couldn't be a manufacturing difference or a wrong part, I could only guess that they shrink ever so slightly over time!fzrbrandon wrote:It's as if they shrink over time...
Yeah, that's exactly what I mean. What happens is that when you put the slide / diaphragm in and try to seat the lip of the diaphragm into the groove on the carb body, it will invariably slip out of the groove as you start tightening down the diaphragm cover. The crappy part is that it's really hard to notice. Ugh...AeroGunz762 wrote: Do you mean the diaphragms shrink over time? If so, I can corroborate that for you! Here's another pic of the new diaphragm slide assy sitting in the cover, just to give you another view:
