Gizzard1533 wrote:This whole thread was to eridigate the seat from under the cover to give a deeper space under the seat unit. Using the seat pan even without the seat foam its still the same issue. Cheers for the offer thoughBurtonrider10022 wrote:The PO of my second bike hollowed out the underside of the rear seat. Makes it completely useless for a passenger but would solve your issue.
If anyone wants my hollowed out seat, PM me. I have no use for it.

Yeah... The seat pan is cut too, obviously. The seat is basically modified to act as a cowl yet look/attack like a stock seat. I am well aware of the point of the thread and there is plenty of room under this seat for your soda

Re: More Trunk Room?
Well had a little play today and came up with this for the catch
It locks into place using an eyelet attached to the bottom of the bit of wood. I had to do it this was as the carch was a lot further back on the seat than i originally thought it was. Thats not a problem though.
The next issue was getting it to 'lock' at the back. For that i came up with this idea
Both these parts worked well and functioned well, the problems came when i started to fibre glass them. I've never had such a faf with two bits of wood. Baring in mind i'd never fibre glassed befor i didn't think it would be that difficult. Everytime i tried to get a nice right angle in it, the firbe glass would just release back and loose shape. Any hints for that?
Also i was playing around with the seat and the cover. Due to the way you'd have to reinforce the seat cover i recon you would loose most the extra space you could gain from the seat being removed???
What your thoughts?
BURTON:- CAN YOU POST A PICTURE OF YOUR SEAT PLEASE? ANY SORRY IF MY PREVIOUS POST CAME ACROSS AS ARROGANT

This is good! I really like the extra room. How stable is it?

Re: Re: More Trunk Room?
Those ideas wouldn't leave the cover very stable and its quite a flimsy thing, so at speed id have my doubts about it. But it you where to brace it at the front(cover up the hole), in the middle(where you'd mount the catch) and right at the back(where you'd mount the locating tab) i reckon you could pull it off, but like i said with that sort of bracing you could loose the extra space your trying to achieve. The height would definatly improve but the space would be jepodised. I'm gonna get some decent wood to try it out when pay day arrives and i shall get back to you . Fibre glass is a real bitch to work with on tight spaces though.Zantar6 wrote:This is good! I really like the extra room. How stable is it?

Yes it is haha. I've tried a couple times and no luck really. I'm gonna try doing something here soon. I'm about to make a trip. I'll let you know what happensGizzard1533 wrote:

make me look like the bad guy, huh? . I may have taken your post a bit on the "arrogant" side I suppose, and I appologize that my reply was intended to come off as an arrogant reply (I was a bit crabby that day! )
I will try to post a picture when I get home.

Zanter - This is proving to be a challenge, but i like a good challenge. I need to buy some wood, to try the 3 brace idea, but hopefully something will work. The cross bar thats under the seat is a bit of a pain in the ass as well.
Burton - cheers mate, wanna see what they've done to yours, may give us a idea
