carb problems?

Post by sirfunkeybut »

im new to motorcycles and was looking on other threads a little bit ago and noticed that someone was talking about a slide not working. were they referring to the black thing inside the throat of the carb? none of mine move at all. my bike wont start and im wondering if that could be one of the problems. let me rephrase that, they move but not when throttled

Hi,
those "black things inside the carb" are indeed the slides. and they do not move unless the bike is working as they are moved by air going thro the carb rather than you twisting the throttle with a wire lifting the slide directly.

I would refer to the WIKI which has lots on carbs and some very good pictures by Rage Digital.

If you wish us to help you "bike doesn't start " is not much of a clue to work with. Use the search engine and read up others problems with carbs and then tell us what does happen rather than what is not.

I have a thread started about the no start condition, I guess I should've posted this in that thread as well instead of starting a new one. If you wouldn't mine helping here's the link to the other thread
