1997 FZR600R forks onto a 91 3HE

Post by SouthendChris »

I have the chance to buy some nicely rebuilt 1997 FZR600R (4JH) forks.

I have a couple quick questions regarding fitting them to my 1991/2 3HE FZR600.

Is the fork diameter the same? Or will I need the 4JH yokes aswell?

Will my 4pot calipers from the 3HE also fit these forks or will I have to search for others.

What diameter spindle does the 4JH use - i.e. ca I use my 3HE front wheel setup.

Would it basically mean a whole 4JH front end swap to use these forks?? I have a set of FZR400 3TJ Yokes (triple trees to the yanks) which take the 43mm forks. Would I be right in saying the 3HE is 38mm??

Any help appreciated Noob

no expert on this but as the 4jh forks are 41mm you will need the yokes as well, but you'd also have too take into account the steering stem size on the 4jh yokes as well i should imagine. but like i said, im no expert.

Last I looked, the 4JH fork assembly (including yokes) is a straight bolt-on mod. Actually, I think the '97 is the 4TV Thundercat, but it's also a bolt-up.

This is the problem. It's just the forks. I would have to source the yokes separately. Even then would my 3HE wheel, discs, brakes be able to fit the 4JH forks :tard: I think I will pass on this one.

Like I said I do have a set of 3TJ yokes, discs, calipers but these are earmarked for my project trackbike....

You would need more than just the forks-you'd need to whole front to make it work. Unless you have a good machinist to make any adapters/spacers to make it all work together safely.

hi just done this mod, you need everything clipons ,front wheel, speedo drive as axial is thicker, forks and yokes . your 4 pot calipers will fit so will discs plus the steering lock ignition , but please be aware that on full lock the clipon pinch bolt just touches the front of the dummy tank . it dose make for a smoother ride and a better range of springs are available. good luck with the change
