Jet sizes

Post by delvryboy »

I did the pods in anticipation of a tank swap, which now is off the agenda. It's running decent and has some good high end power, but it's just not the same as my airbox.

I'm going to use the Flo-Commander still.

I was wondering what size jets people are using? I'll have a full yoshi exhaust with a half yoshi can and a K&N drop in. I'm going to grab the 4 sizes for $30 from DJ since I only need the jets and was unsure of which 4 sizes to shoot for.

Oh, my original ones were 128's when I bought it w/ the airbox and it ran way to rich. I'm pretty much starting from scratch.

How do you plan on using the airbox with the flo commander? I thought on their site they say pods are required? Just drill holes through the airbox? You'll probably have to get longer tubing at the very least.

On that note, I thought I'd mention that with my pods i've noticed the same thing, and i get worse gas mileage. Still trying to tweak the flo commander and the jets though.

DB,
Pods do NOT require re-jetting of the carbs If the mod is done correctly with the inlet tract being left as standard.
I posted the way to do this along time ago:-

although, YG, you should still be able to get the carbs tuned correctly if you get correct jet sizes right?

Z,
theoretically yes, but if what I did in the past is right you will be nearly my age when you get it right & have knuckle scars of a Thai boxer <BG> to prove it

The only jets I have now are 130's. I could mount the fc inside the airbox or outside and run an inlet tube to the inside.

Really though, I don't have much reason to stay with the pods, so.....

WhIch 4 jets should I get? I was thinking 116, 118, 120, and 122.

hi,
if you are reverting to air box ,clean the filter, invest in NEW plugs go out test the bike AS IS then see where it is rich / lean and pick your jets to suit.

I was thinking that geo, but I figured the 130's would definitely be rich.

In the WIKI there is a listing for what others have as working jetting in various bikes that might give you a base line as to where to start looking :-
