Part identification and where can i get one?

Post by fergy2106 »

The bearing has collapsed in the engine case behind the sprocket. Is this called the drive shaft bearing, final drive bearing or WHAT THE FRIG? I have searched but cannot locate one online and keep ending up at a sprocked carrier bearing (for rear wheel)

Can someone tell me the correct name and perhaps advise where i can order one, get it in and get the buff back on the road?

Cheers

Kyle

P.S.

I have a FZR600 1989 breaking (without engine) and a non runner 93 engine out of a Genisis. Front end, frame, brakes, plastics (from Genisis 93) and a host of other parts. If you want anything give me a shout. Located in N. Ireland, cant be arsed posting heavy stuff but anyone local who wants anything just gimmie a shout and land up.

Cheers. I checked the crankcase diagram but the bearing aint on it ffs! The space for it to fit in is there but no clue as to what goes into it. Would this simply be called the drive shaft bearing?

The bearings rarely have names as such. You'll find it in the transmission fiche, not the crankcase fiche - 93306-30550; any dealer will be able to get it.

Or, you could go to just about any bearing house and ask for a 6305 bearing, and pay about 1/3-1/2 of what Yamaha will charge you ... :deal:

Cheers Yamaha George & Don TZ125.

Part no 13 is what im after and Don, i will bust into my local parts store and grab one. Cheers again.

One more (stupid) question.....

If you look at the transmission fiche, part 24 looks like a pressed on sleive? If this is the case i rekon that it will be a git to remove. Is this a crank case split job or can it be done easily enough. May just split the sleive off and get a new one if it gets awkward.

Anyone done this before and how did you proceed?

Cheers again

F,
Let me say I have not done this on an FZR BUT from past experience that looks like a slip on spacer that goes thro the oil seal and keeps the sprocket off the seal/ bearing face.

However the case MUST be split as the bearing you are changing is held in place with a "half moon" retaining ring !
Case of drain oil, drop engine, turn upside down, remove all engine covers that go across the split line, remove ALL holding bolts of the two halves (top & bottom I believe) raise the bottom replace OIL Seal (shown as 25) & bearing as a precaution
Have some Yamabond gasket goo to hand for replacing the bottom & what ever gasket that did not survive dis-assembly .
