Picture request (rear rim)

Post by Kyle844 »

Hey guys,
Can someone upload a picture of where the rim/axle meets up to the swingarm on the right hand side near the rear disc. preferably from the rear of the bike looking towards the front. I have a small gap between the wheel and the swingarm but the disc in the caliper keeps it from having any movement. just trying to see if i missed something when re-installing the wheel.

Bike is an american fzr600 1996. Rear tire is 160-60-18

Do you have the wheels spacer in the wheel between the wheel and the caliper mount?

Whats this look like? Maybe it fell off during removal or when the shop was putting the rear tire on?

K,
if you do not get it get some "penny" washers (Big washers with a BIG center hole) from the local hardware and use a stack of them to stop the brake pads doing the spacing for you !!!!

Hot disc, no pads and slow bike not a good combination for the pocket book

Thanks for the advice for the quick fix YG! If the shop has to order the part i may use the washer method until i come back from my trip. Now will the washers rub up against the rim or are they going to be touching the bearing surface and still allow it to spin freely? or does that just matter on what O.D. i get for the washers.

K,
really depends on the washers, on a quick fix like this may be 2 sizes of washer, smaller diam to suit the inner race of the bearing taking the pressure and the big ones to just take up the slack & spread load over the biggest area on the swing arm to stop it getting crushed if you get a bit heavy with the torque wrench.

I'd go back to the shop that changed your tire and see if they have it laying around. It does not hurt to try.

77ft/lb

I know I'm late but I just did mine. I backed mine to 72 because at 77 the cotter pin wouldn't go in correctly..
