Well I recently got an fzr off of a friend who got it off the internet with no title. We looked it up and there was nothing bad, so it was never stolen or totaled. And hasent been registered since 2000. I was just wondering even if I don't know the original owener or anything can I still get a title for it. I live in illinois.
Thankyou
Billy
getting a title?

Re: getting a title?
Billy, the short answer is good luck. Depending on where in IL you are may help or hurt you. I live in Lake County and in order to get a title for it here, you have to take the bike to the Sec of State Police. They will check the VIN and make sure it's clean. They will charge you for an inspection (~$120) and then they will charge you the $65 for the IL title and then whatever registration is. All of a sudden you're looking at over $200 to get a title. Most people tend to just find a title frame and swap it over.
Other option is to pay 5 bucks and submit a title search to springfield. They will mail you any information on the bike provided it's IL info. From there you can try and track the last owner down and have him sign a DMV form stating he sold the bike and you are the own and can apply for the title.
IL are ball busters on titling things though.
Good luck though!
