Ok here is my problem
my bike will not start I rode it last Sunday the 6th and all was great. Then on Monday went to start it and it will turn over but will not fire this is the second time it has done this in two weeks
so I looked for info on here and tried all the suggestions that I found so this is what I have done.
I checked the kick stand switch and the clutch switch not these have put in new plugs have cleaned the carbs checked the relays and they seam to be working checked all the wire connections
the fuel pump is working fine have a new fuel filter the tank is full the selector is on I have spark at the plugs and I have fuel what else can I look for or try any help would be great
Dead battery ? Bad Voltage Regulator ? Bad Stator ?
Check in that order. Mine did that a lot when it needed a new voltage regulator. Check battery output first, I think it's supposed to be between 12 and 13.4 volts, if not, get new battery. Yuasa YuMicron is the best, last LONG time.
Or it could be flooded. I don't know how this would happen though, unless you're cranking on the throttle too much at start-up. I usually don't touch the throttle or just give it a little gas if it stumbles. This is usually more of a problem when it's REALLY cold outside. It should not be a problem in summer.

If you've got good spark and your battery is fresh (and the cranks are nice and strong when you're trying to start it) then I would say it's probably your pickup coil/stator. And if that went then it's safe to say your VR has gone bad. A bad pick up coil/stator is the reason I was able to get my FZR for 250 bucks. Previous owner couldn't figure out why it would just crank and crank and never start. I replaced the pick coil/stator and the bike fired right up and has been running ever since.

Ok I think I may have found my problem a friend and I were rechecking the spark plugs and found that there is spark but only to the frame and no spark in the gap when the
plug is grounded good checked, all four plugs and no spark these plugs are only a week old and may have 15 hours on them so I still had the old plugs that I replaced last week and
cleaned them up and tested them and they had spark in the gap so installed them for now and the bike started up first try so will need to get new plugs again (old plugs were fouled so I replaced them )anyone know what would make a new plug do that? Also Thanks to everyone for all their help and info
is it the EXACT SAME PLUG (model number and brand) as what was there before ??
I only use NGK. Denso makes different Iridium models I believe, a lot of guys here like them, say they perform better or last longer. But I've had NGK's last over 10 years, yeah, I know I should have replaced them sooner, but I wasn't putting a lot of miles on the bike.
Don't use cheap spark plugs, could be defective. Very happy that you found the problem, hopefully it's just defective or incorrect plugs. A lot cheaper and easier than a VR or Stator etc.

Funny story that relates to this and answers your question. I replaced the plugs in the GF's mother's 98 explorer a few weeks back. Truck ran like shit. Replaced all the plugs again...runs like new. Honestly, unless we are diligent about knowing how to read date codes on every product we buy we don't know how long ago the item was made or how long it has sat on the shelf before we came along and bought it. We just know that we are the first person to use it. Those plugs could have been part of a bad batch that was made. These bikes came with NGK CR8E or NGK CR9E spark plugs. If your bike is not running too rich then you should be fine with the CR9E's. My FZR tends to run a little rich (<-BIG understatement) so I run the CR8E's and have had good results and the same plugs are in my bike almost 2 years later.

The Plugs I am using are NGK CR9E that is what was in it before and I am using the old plugs for now till I can get new ones. Are the CR8E's a hotter plug? I also think that the new plugs have a problem
or are defective.I rode it yesterday evening and it ran great, I started it this morning and it started up fine so I hope this was the problem for know !

They're probably just defective from a bad batch that slipped through. Yup the CR8E is a hotter plug. Try another set of plugs when you get the cash. You'll probably have no issues after that.
