Idea for the EXUP guys....

Post by the_finch »

Back when I used to visit the Archives (before they went down the first time) I was reading that as a general rule you don't like to put replacement full exhausts on the EXUP bikes, as it removes your exup valve.

It occurred to me today that the stock 06-08 R6 exhaust can (can be had on eBay pretty cheap) had the EXUP valve in it, so someone who wanted to open up their exhaust could use a V&H or comparable header and can with a custom mid-pipe housing the stock R6 EXUP valve. You'd have a better flowing exhaust while retaining your low end power gains (and probably smog-compatibility) of the EXUP valve. canofworms

Just a random thought I had while thinking of my bike at work (as opposed to actually working), and I didn't know if anyone had thought of it before.

So there's the idea. my2cents Comments?

Who says you can't switch to a full exhaust? Not sure is you have seen Rage's bike but that's an exup bike with an exup motor and he's running a full V&H system. I'll let him elaborate on the specs and what he did.

Wow. I stand corrected. I figured someone had tried, and it's nice to know someone else made it work well before I thought about it. If everyone else came up with stuff as slow as I sometimes do, we'd still be working on this whole "internal combustion" thing. :tard:

Still, if putting on a full exhaust, the used R6 can seems to be a pretty plentiful and inexpensive source for the exup valve. my2cents

I would guess it could be done. You'd have to get creative with the routing of the cables though. Anyone here that's running an R6 can wanna confirm this?
