Drive Sprocket combination ?

Post by Lasse »

What sprocket combination should I use and why ?

What are you running ?

I want some more low end power but not want to go smaller on the front sprocket..

I'm running the stock 530 chain with steel 15/45 sprockets. A lot of people go bigger on the rear (for example 46 or 47 teeth) and leave the front stock.

Then go with a 49 or higher in the rear. I run a 14/49 520 conversion. Takes off like a demon!

Yeah, I have a 520 conversion with 14 front and 47 rear. It takes off pretty fast compared to 15/45 stock. That said, you have to shift a little quicker if you're winding it out. Otherwise if you're riding normally it really doesn't make a boat-load of difference. The 520 vs. 530 chain definitely lightens the bike though, and my guess is it takes some strain off the engine, which can only be a good thing.

That said, 14/47 will not have as high of TOP speed vs. the 14/45 stock. But I usually don't go much over 120 mph anyway.
