It's the very same nut for all of them (size and pitch). I haven't looked it up to know but there are probably multiple part numbers for this. I 'm guessing they set it higher spec for the 1k due to the extra power and torque it makes in comparison to the smaller motors. Nonetheless, it's too low of a number. Otherwise, you would never hear about this. It's almost as frequent as the regulator/Rectifier issue.yamaha_george wrote: Sweekster,
I think you hit something there the book says 43 ft lbs for 600's and 750 & 1K's at 50ft-lbs I do not think the 600 has a different nut or thread pitch does it?

Re: Lost my sprocket nut and retaining washer.
Drop the engine take out the final drive shaft and take it to a machine shop
A} build up the old shaft threaded section and have it machined to the original spec.
B]turn down the original threaded bit put new threads on and make / buy nut to suit
OR
C} simply buy another shaft
D] Buy another engine
I have done both A & B over the years in 3rd world countries where such rare parts as final shaft
did not exist and were a mortgage and 4 months away.

Re: Lost my sprocket nut and retaining washer.
Can I use a tap and die set to rethread it?
--EDIT__
Im just going to change the shaft, as an emergency ... YES I WELDED a nut in the shaft... LOL :/
also I was looking into a healthier engine with a new clutch.. the engine seems to be swappable super easy when compared to my mazda which ive done many swaps.
