What Are the Most Common Nut\Bolt Sizes on the FZR's?

Post by override67 »

Looking to consolidate my old toolbox into a smaller kit for the bike, since that's the only major project (hopefully) in the near future.

I haven't done a lot of work on it so far, but I know there's a couple of hex wrenches on the bodywork, and my 17mm got some use. What are the most common sizes \ tools to include?

My basic tool kit consists of a 8mm,10mm, and 12mm wrench, allen key set, or just a 3,4,5,and 6mm keys. I also carry a reversible philips and flat head screw driver and a small pair of pliers. I also sometimes carry a small pair of channel locks(~8") in place of a large adj wrench. Its not the ideal tool, buts its smaller, lighter, and will serve the purpose to get you to safety. I keep this in a crown royal bag with a big fat rubber band around it(the rubber band is an important parts of my kit!). This kit allow me to do about 90% of the work on my bike and I always carry it with me. I also keep one of each of the coolant system Orings in there with it for spares. Theyre cheap and good to have on the side of the road. Trust me. Thats why I always carry the rubber band. Had to make a roadside Oring when mine ruptured 40mi from home. Occasionally a larger metric wrench comes out, so a good basic set up to 18mm or so is good to have, and a large adjustable wrench for the occasional large nut, like the stem and axle nuts, unless you want more wrenches, which is cool too. Snap ring pliers are needed occasionally.
