My front sprocket nut fell out

Post by reallyniceguy »

I dont know how the hell this happened... but the nut fell out.. I had never touched it..

anywho what is this nut called? Front sprocket nut? where can i get another one?

How much do they typically cost? I was driving and all of the sudden it felt like if I was in neutral... pushed it home(was close) and opened her up. The nut was not there...

Don't mind the highlighted words, that's where I did the search.

the nut that goes on there is pretty specific, I tried home depot, lowes, and ace hardware. You might see if there are any motorcycle junkyards in your area and get lucky. There are also business that deal just in nuts and bolts so see if there's on near you. As for a chewed up shaft that royally sucks and I have no idea what goes into replacing it. Good luck

Thanks for the advice. I think I sourced the nut already from a sit and members here. If the shaft is screwed oh well. Im going to be picking up a lower mileage fzr in 2 to 3 weeks. Theres one 4 hrs away and one 16 hrs awa(this one I REALLY WANT) then Ill use this one for parts if the shaft is screwed.

Ok I got the nut but idiot me I forgot to order the lock washer.. So yeah I hjad to order it. Anywho I was able to drive the nut in without any effort, even tho the shaft thread was worn, I was able to re create the thread using the nut. It goes in smoothly. I just need the lock washer, it didnt have one... it had a different style nut before and two spacer washers... it did not have the original parts...

I was able to inpsect the sprocket and to my surprise its almost new. Im assuming the guys before me replaced the sprocket and chain(since chain looks new)

The rattle I was hearing was not the chain, it was the sprocket slowly creeping out.

That bikebandit website rocks!

On a sidenote!

Im going to be able to title my bike in a week or so, yay!
