Regular Gas OK?

My 93 FRZ600 seems to "like" 87 octane regular. Is this OK? It has a KN intake (two big filters) and a kerker slip on and had a shop rejet the carbs. I left the stock exhaust and exup on.

Should be fine. I've never run anything but 87 in mine.

I tried running Non-oxygenated, ethanol free 93 in my bike for a couple tanks and it seemed to run worse. Other people have reported exactly the opposite. If 87 works fine in your bike don't spend the extra money on 93.

I run 87 octane with no problems and every now and then I run a mid grade.

Does it run better with higher octane fuels? Also remember that the new blends of petroleum fuels have much higher consentrates of ethenal in it. Ethenal is a natural detergant. What happens is that it will stip all the crap off the inside of your tank and shove it through the gas lines. So the fuel filter might need to be changed. The local gas station near me had to have the fuel pump filters changed twice in one week when they switched. The boating industry had a big problem with the fuel as well. It forced people to get their boat engines tuned because the carburators couldn't handle the higher consentrate. Check the fuel filter then see if the bike needs to be tuned.

these bikes, as with 99% of sportbikes have very high compression . i personally run 108 in my bike , it's very expensive but i only ride like 1000 miles a year so i don't feel the pinch too bad. lower octane fuel has a lower flash point, so it will actually work againts you in a high compression engine such as the fzr 600 engine.
some have reported a "feeling" of lower power with a high octane fuel, but on a dyno the numbers would prove differently.
I know for damn sure that there is a power difference between 87 octane and 108 octane, my bike will go to redline before i realize what's going on, it has allowed my engine to rev MUCH faster thus accelerating much faster. I have ran all grades of octane and as far as my experience goes, the higher the better.

mine runs great on regular , the one time i tried premium it didn't seem to like it .

No signs of pre-detonation with the 87, so I stick with that. If you shave the head or change the stroke, then you'll need to go with a higher octane.
