Bike isn't firing

Post by clintcarr3 »

Hey everyone, My bike was running fine and i rode it just about everyday until i left it sitting at my parents house from thanksgiving til christmas and now it wont start. I figured it was just the carbs so i took them off and cleaned them(jets, bowls, floats area) but i didnt mess with the needles or diaphrams. i also cleaned out the gas tank because it had some rust in it. When i put it all back together it still wont fire(it acts like its not getting any fuel) but i checked and i know that fuel is making it through the pump and to the entrance of the carbs. Idk what i should try to do next..would it help to take the needles and diaphrams apart and clean them? what else could it be that would stop it from firing? it turns over fine btw. thanks in advance.

THE FZR is a PITA about battery voltage unless it has a full charge it will not start,and they hate cold so use the choke.
If none of that works get back to use as most of us have experienced this behaviour from our own bike (cept me of course :-}

thanks for the advice, i got it worked out now. i just changed the spark plugs a few months ago so i figured they weren't the problem but i just changed them out and sure enough its running like a champ now. two of the wires were loose though so that probably had some impact on it. thanks again!
