mod suggestions for a 92 FZR
Hey so i decided to mod my bike and paint it, speakers, crome some parts, all that but i want some good engine mods, im already getting the R6 headers and probably a megaphone....but what other suggestions do you guys have for me to mod???? Thanks
Re: mod suggestions for a 92 FZR
Do you mean 'speakers' as in a stereo? Isn't that a little incompatible with a megaphone exhaust?
Browse the forums and the World is your oyster. Limiting factors are only your wallet and ingenuity. R6 forks and brakes, phat rims, R6 bodywork etc are all common. I'm mid way through fitting a Duke 916 tail to mine at the moment.
I wouldn't worry trying to 'tune' the motor much because it hasn't a huge amount to give, but a top end strip to inspect the bores, reshim the valves, and a full carb strip and rebuild will have her as sweet as Mr Yamaha intended.

FB,
going on from your blanket advice as to where to get inspiration, the Megaphone exhaust will de-tune the engine. Yamaha designes their top ends with back pressure in mind to "stuff" fuel into the head. The megaphone by nature cannot do that thus there will be unburned gas flowing in the exhaust and your MPG will reflect that plus asizable dip in mid range performance

Roger that Geo, high revving motors like this like their back pressure and resonance etc.

well the steario is for just when hanging out at the bike nights and the annuals not really for riding much just in town, and yeah im not going to get a megaphone probably a akra.Fartblood wrote:Roger that Geo, high revving motors like this like their back pressure and resonance etc.
so theres nothing else major to get a low to mid range jump?
Re: mod suggestions for a 92 FZR
If yours is an Exup I would put it back on. Other than that I would suggest a jet kit,an R6 header, a coil upgrade.osielFZR wrote: so theres nothing else major to get a low to mid range jump?

The V&H PowerPaks are getting REALLY hard to come by these days. However, a lot of the fellas have good things to say about Ignitech's boxes.surgscrubfzr wrote:what about a power-pak so you can change your ignition curve?
