Fork Springs

Ok here is the deal,
I have an Ozzy wizkid supplying me with a set of Cartridge emulators but he cannot supply fork springs because they must be linear not the usual aftermarket progress wound springs, he has such animals but NOT for FZR's

So I need linear springs , the problem lies in that everyone I have had contact with says yup progressive only

now race tech can BUT the blighters do not answer phones (assuming 8 hr lag between UK time & pacific coast ?) or emails so far

anyone have another source of linear springs ?


OK getting passed that it has been suggested to use the internals from a YZF600 and swap them into the FZR shock body as the YZF is cartridge type forks. I really do not want to start swapping out the actual whole fork unit because of problems likely to arise like triple trees, wheel s, fenders,speedo's, brake calipers etc.


Anyone done the swap of internals ?

What information do you need to know from Race Tech?

They give you the info to figure out the size, then you can order them. I actually ordered mine through bikebandit.com, since they were cheaper than going directly through Race-Tech.

I have an installation sheet from them that I can scan.

I have the info from Race tech's web site as to spring rate (0.85Kg/mm ) but trying to get to buy from them is a nightmare hence my search else where.

If you scan the doc that would be good I have lost my original set from way back.

If you have a url for B'bandits page with the fork springs on I might just give it ago. everything else is beginning to T me off big time

But for some reason I can only find the 1.0 and .90 springs. That page is for a 1997 US model (same as UK 1993, I think) but they should work for yours, too. I actually get my riding gear from kneedraggers.com and they offer the racetech springs as well, and a little cheaper from what I can tell. I don't know how the shipping stacks up between the two, but maybe this link will help you get your springs.

Knowing my luck on this chase so far the springs would be worse than mine,

Thanks for the Links i am chasing them.

It was also mentioned to just get YZF cartridge shocks (set on ebay) and done however they are 41 mm and the FZR6 38 mm so i would need to change triple trees as well

fork springs = 91 USD
Shipping = 145 USD

I think their sales team have been out in the sun too long OR they are celebrating the 4th early

A phone call stateside says that the springs cost 8.45 to ship US Mail to the UK

That's about par George.. I ordered up my 600 fairings off Ebay from the States and the only "pond" they had to cross was Lake Ontario maybe..

2 FZR 600 Fairings - $60USD
Shipping for said fairings - $485USD..



Good thing where my dad works they have trucking accounts for shipping all their hydraulic supplies across North America so I managed to get it here for $150.. The box weighed 9lbs I believe it was, maybe a few more, but because of the actual size of it they had to cube it.. and after that it was like the same as getting a 75 or 80 kg box or some damn stupid thing.. It's ridiculous

The thing that pisses me is that I can fly to NY for that price, stay with my cuz and probably get him to drive me to Delaware in a half day & pick it up and fly home.
If it was not for a whole slew of family commitments I would do it but i have my 25 Wedding anniv. my In laws 50 th. my bro in laws 50 b'day the eldest daughters 18th Her boy friends 18 th + holidays to sort out.

Now what I need to do is get the original spring length and outer diameter ?

The inner diameter will depend on what they use to get me 0.85 Kg/mm
