Exhaust and baffle question.

There is a lot of talk about how not having a baffle in the exhaust is a bad deal, and I have been hearing a rattle in my Yoshi pipe. So I looked down in the end and I can see all the way to the "mid pipe" I think it is called. Is this where I should see a baffle? I am going to repack the exhaust this weekend.

i had an f1 muffler on for a while on one of my bikes and it dident have a baffle i havent had any problems with it but i guess it might have done damage im not really sure havent noticed any

Just as most aftermarket mufflers are, it's a "straight through" design. It probably looks similar to this when it's all apart. It probably just needs to be repacked and that is a fairly easy task.

My Carbon company exhaust has a baffle that is part of the curved outlet section & it curves right across the long perforated tube in the silencer bore with space top & bottom for free floe but restricts about 1/3 of the bore. Keeep sthe bike quiet sure is noicy with out it and keeps the mid range power "evil" when the baffle is place and makes it pussy cat soft without it.

As to repacking I use wire scourer material tight round the perf tube that runs the length og the silencer can. Then I use glass fibre loft insulation (no foil !!!) then glass fibre cloth. this combo keeps the bike quiet & hassle free for about 5 years

I just wasn't exactly sure where the baffle would be, and I didn't want to damage anything on my bike. Somewhere I read something about backdraft. I read the link before that sweekster posted, and found it weird that there wasn't a picture of the completed project. I assumed that all the packing went around the perf tube, and then I think I read all about how you did this too George and confirmed my hypothesis. We sell fiberglass insulation at my shop for duct work that goes up to about 400 degrees so I thought about using this outside of the steel wool. Thanks for all the help.
