hi all,
sorry i didnt get to the "new members" bit to say hi, but will get there soon, need to ask a very quick question before buying(or maybe not) a FZR
i viewed a FZR600 a few hours ago,
great bike btw BUT.....
took it for a decent spin, all seems to work well but when i turned round to go back and say ill take it the bike stopped going into gear...
left it with him and went home, he called me back a few mins ago and said he has the AA with him & they have found the problem,
the bolt for adjusting the clutch(beside the front sprocket) had come loose and popped out stopping the bike going into gear properly(went into gear while not running but could be wheeled around), they are putting it back together now so it will be up and running in a few.
other than that i was def going for the bike but im a bit weary now, the guy seemed to be being honest about the bike and was genuinely surprized when the problem occured.
anybody experienced a similar problem OR know if it sounds legit?
i can prob check his AA reciept to make sure that was the problem but does that sound like a genuine small problem or would it be something to avoid?
any help would be greatly appreciated, need to make a decision very soon though as the bike is a bargain and there are a few others interested but he is waiting for me to get back to him......

Re: bolt popping out of the clutch(beside front sprocket)????
ehh, there is a jam nut on that bolt (it's the adjuster for free play in the clutch actuator).
My guess is it had been adjusted and the jam nut wasn't properly locked down.
If it drove nice and you feel it is worth the asking price, I'd go for it-that's not a big deal.

If your talking about the clutch adjuster nut and bolt on the out side of the sprocket cover.I could see that happining if the nut was not tighten properly.I have never had it happen and it should not be a problem once tighten down properly..

Re: bolt popping out of the clutch(beside front sprocket)????
Ive had an issue lately with the 2 screws at the bottom of the sprocket cover loosening up over time. When they loosen up the clutch actuator pushes the cover outward and it binds on the shift shaft which makes my shifter stick and bind. Ive tried torquing them to spec, but loctite is next. Im not sure if this is the same problem youre having, but its why mine has issues going in and out of gear sometimes.
