bought myself a 1990 FZR 600, trying to get an oil filter and a few other bits for a service but i dont know which model i have!
the paperwork just says its a Yamaha 600cc. does not even sayd its a FZR!!
how do you check which model i have?

The model # on my 95 600 is on the right side of the frame just below the tank cover. And on my tdi box it says 3HE don't see why the 90 would be different.

There's essentially 2 types of FZR 600. All are 3HEx with the final digit designating the precise model year/version. For example, my 1991 bike is a 3HE7.
Basically, there are only 2 versions. Up to late 1990 (depending on where you are in the world) the bike had spindlier forks and only 2 piston front brake calipers. If your bike has these brakes then that's an easy identifier. From 1991 on you got a single headlamp (back to dual lamps for 1992), 4 piston brakes, slightly fatter forks, slightly fatter rear rim, and a one piece cartridge oil filter assembly
Then from 1995 came the FZR600R (4xx codes) which was called the YZF600 in many markets.
Slap up a picture of the olde gurl and I'm sure someone will be able to tell you what you have.
