Need a lil help here guys!!

Ok, been out riding today with couple friends. We did a 131 miles trip up to Taylor's Falls in MN. I was told, some black smoke came from my exhaust when ever I got on the gas hard. The bike seems to run fine other wise. My question is what could be going on here? The bike has a Dyno Jet stage 1 kit in it, it's setup as instructed by DJ. If I remember correct the clip for the needles are on the 3rd position from the top, should I raise the clip position for this smoke @ WOT problem? Just so you know it's only when I first get on the throttle hard, once it's up there then it's not a problem. Thanks for any input in advance guys.

Hey mine does the same thing and I've got a dynojet stage 1 jet kit on mine as well as K&N air filter and SS2R slipon exhaust. I haven't been able to really figure it out yet, but I know mine runs rich. What kind of mileage do you get? I get like 35 on the highway and it's killing me. I think it might be the emulsion tubes, but I haven't replaced them yet. Last time I checked they looked fine though.

My Fzr did that and anyone i ever rode with told me the same thing .. I was told it was running rich also but never got around to fixing the prob.. the new owner didnt mind it ..so either did i .

Thanks for the responses guys. I knew i was running a lil rich. I was trying to figure out which setting I was to adjust, A/F screws or needles, cause the bike rode fine at all rpm's. I think I got it fixed. I'll find out tomorrow when I take it for a spin.

If its low in power mid range then the needle height is to high and if its at top end the main jets are to big when rich.
You need the correct main jet sorted before adjusting needle height.mixture screws do the very bottom.
