"Street fighter" headlights/fronts

Post by syvmn »

Hey guys. I acquired a beat up FZR 600 a few months ago for my first bike. Its been a lot of fun, but definitely needs quite a bit of work. The front cowling and side fairings are pretty beat up with multiple splits and cracks. I tried and tried to find economical replacement fairings (is that an oxymoron?) but have had no luck. I did manage to find a rear side fairing so I have a complete back. I think at this point I'm going to give up on finding side fairings or a good front.

I've seen a few good looking street fighter style bikes lurking around here and am wondering if anyone has advice on what to get as far as a front goes. Obviously it would need to have headlights to replace the stock ones. I want to keep things legal. I also would like to keep my gauges. I found this guy and I like the way his front is set up, he can't remember what it is but I was hoping someone else around here would:

Let me know if you have any suggestions

That's just your typical Ebay Streetfighter Headlight

It just clamps right onto the forks, very simple and i believe you can use your existing lights from your headlight

Do an ebay search for "streetfighter headlight" under Motorcycle Parts

I would do it but...once i get on ebay....

I looked around a bit and it seems that this type of headlight is generally not DOT approved. I saw the acerbis cyclops IS DOT approved but I guess I don't really want to be one of a thousand people to have the same thing and people say that the light output sucks. I'm starting to consider mounting a single larger headlight and figuring out something to cover the gauges above it.

Every single FZR fighter that Ive seen that reused the stock guages looked like a bag of smashed asshoels. Theyre huge and are not easily covered by anything out there save a fairing. I would recommend swapping to a smaller unit like a Veypor or electrosport. It will give you more room and open up more possibilities. As for DOT approved headlights, your options are pretty limited.

Veypor makes the best aftermarket gauges and they're small which is nice

When it comes to street fighter, you either make your own or look like everyone else. Or you pay for someone to make a one off and then go on welfare because of how much it cost.
