maybe your timing chain jumped a tooth did you check the fuel lines and make sure the shutoff on the floats are working
ones life is the way it is only because you allow it make it happen.

Check the wires up around the neck of the frame. They tend to get a little brittle since it gets a lot of friction from the left to right on the bars.

Fresh gas although there MAY have been a drop or two some where along the line.

I cleaned the carbs removed the jets and used compressed air to blow everything out as well as removing the floats etc. I think the pedck is working fine as there is more than enough gas getting to the carb now the fuel pump is working. The timming I have not looked at though.

You mentioned that you've had the carbs apart...Let me tell you a story so maybe someone can learn from my mistake. New to me FZR600 had sat for three years so I pulled the carbs and put in new O-rings, soaked everything in Berryman's, new gaskets etc. These were not the first carbs I've rebuilt, I've done this numerous times over the years and normally when I'm done the bike fires right up and runs happy! Not this time..I can barely get it to fire even when I pour a little gas into the carb throats :swear As soon as you let up on the starter button its dies...sound familiar?

I finally figured out that I had switched the main jets with the choke jets that are right next to them inside the carb! Switched them and the bike started and ran great instantly. Embarasing to admit, but maybe it'll help somebody out!

Good luck,
Parker

good point and I can totally relate..... as such I NEVER remove more than one piece at a time cuz that would be some thing that I would do and spend an insane amount of time trying to figure out!.... most of that time would be spent on trying to figure out whose fault it was of course! :yikes: I've picked up a new set of plugs today as well as a new fuel filter just in case that makes any difference. The engine fired up for a few seconds today, again with an excessive amount of carb start and my thumb on the start button. again, as soon as I took my thumb off the button it died. If I cranked up the throttle it made a lot of load noise (very happy about that) but again short lived. Still going nuts over this one.

It's ALIVE! Digitty diggity diggity, allllllllllright. Out of frustration I replaced all the plugs and the fuel filter, topped it up with some gas and gave it kick in the arse and pop, away it went! Kindda surprised me and being 9:30pm when it happened, scared the crap out of the wife and kids too! lol. Not sure exactly what did it in the end but the result was good. Thanx for all the input!
