:headscratch: uh, do i have to drain the oil to change the peanut cover?

No. Do it while the bike is on the sidestand and you will lose little oil (ounces).

Good idea to change the oil after any kind of process that open up engine internals..but if the gasket comes off the cases clean and you don't have to scrape, and you clean the area around it well BEFORE you open it up, you should be fine.

your right i should just change the oil BUT i have a brand new oil pan to put on the bike (in nevada) AND a TK r6 header (also in nevada) PLUS a factory peanut cover, so i was hoping to put all this stuff on at once on ONE oil change.

anybody know where to find the gasket for the puck on a factory peanut cover?

clow,

thanks man but that not what i was talking about. i meant i have a factory pro peanut cover and the gasket where the puck mounts to the housing of the actual peanut cover needs to be replaced, not the gasket between the peanut cover and the engine.

its grooved but i wonder if ultra black will work or maybe i can find an o-ring that will work at the hardware store?

i'll get better pics up later but this is the cover i have
