Exhaust

Post by ALMOST »

What type of exhaust will fit our fzr? Anything that would fit a yzf600? I would not mind a cheap whole exhaust set up, headers and can. I have been riding my bike with out the lower fairing, like the look. I whated some headers that look good.
Would this can fit the fzr, I have a newer d and d. I would like something just a little more quiet.

As for a full system, the only choice there really is the Vance & Hines SS2-R system. It's reasonably inexpensive.

If you go with a full system, you want one marketed for an FZR600. The header for a YZF600 puts the collector (mid pipe union to the header) in the wrong place. It will hit the shock linkage. If you go with a slip on, you can do almost anything.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

This would be an obvious choice. However, Micron still makes a complete system for the FZR600 also. It's about $60 more than the V&H but they are BEAUTIFUL! And - it's fairly quiet (WAY quieter then the old Yosh system I had previously). Here's a link:

http://store.micronexhaust.com/index.ph ... el=FZR-600

I'm noticing that they no longer list the full systems. However, I would just give them a call to see if they still have them available. I just bought mine about 3 or so months ago.

get a r6 header...they are about $35 bucks.
I got mine for $35 and then I won my $400 aftermarket slipon for the r6 header for $15...came to about $25 shipped...
so for $60 I got awesome performance gains and it looks sweet!

if you want a bolt up one though, there is a guy by me selling his V&H system/carbs/stock exhaust for $75

Are they in good shape? Did you stretch the r6 header?

yes, its pretty easy to stretch and you just use your old headers as a guide to see how far you have to stretch them...
then you can either weld up the equilizer H-pipe, or you can add pipe to it and keep it like I did.

I stretched mine by using a 2"x4" board that I cut into a wedge and I hammered it inbetween the two middle pipes and that stretched it out good.
or if you have a reverse clamp, that would make it easier

Can you tell a difference in power? I read the thread about the stretch, looked like there was some clearence issue with the body work.
