I cant find a how to check the coils.
I checked the wiki...
can anyone help?
I have a multimeter, is there anything else I can use?
my boss said that I could also use his spark tester but he said he doesnt hink it will work on a bike because its made for cars.
I have no clue how to check them so links and info would be great

go to the wiki and grab the electrical section out of the service manual. I think its section 8 of that multipart pdf but im not certain but its in there as i used it to test my coils once.

1. Boot Resistance -- Remove boots- check resistance of boot (9000 - 11000 ohms)
2. Secondary Coil Resistance -- Check resistance between the two leads ends (9600 - 144000 ohms)
3. Primary Coil Resistance -- Remove connector for wires- check resistance between the two wires there (1.8 - 2.2 ohms)
These are the numbers for the 400 I don't know if they are the same for the 600.. also keep in mind you will need to change the range on your multimeter in order to be able to measure the difference resistances

The 1st thing you should have done after you bought the bike is DL or purchase the service manual. All that info is in there.
