DOGBONES DONT FIT??????

Post by payne3400 »

Hi
I made a set of dogbones to the dimensions listed in the wiki and tried to fit them tonight, but when I removed the original ones and lowered the back wheel, the swing arm hit the rear spring way before it was low enough to fit the new dogbones. The original dogbones also had 1WG stamped in them not 3HE.
Also the rear spring only has approx 1mm gap between itself and the swing arm at the sides and has a screw on the shocker, and adjustable spring. Is this a standard rear Shock/spring? Has anybody had this problem with the dogbones in the past? :headscratch:

Longer than stock dog bones will lower the rear. Shorter than stock will raise it. Payne you say yours are stamped 1WG? That's FZR400 if I'm not mistaken.

1WG is the stock dogbone for FZR600's and early 400's

Some pics would help for sure. You should be able to fit them unless they are way to long.

unable to upload pics at min i'm afraid. If you imagine looking at the dogbones whilst stood at the side of the bike, remove the bolts then lift the rear of the bike upwards, it drops the rear wheel and shortens the gap between the bolt holes.I made mine 127mm hole centre to hole centre as in wiki, but the shortest I can go to is 136mm which is when the swing arm hits the rear spring. The spring/shock looks too big in my eyes due to the lack of gap around spring to swing arm plus its got adjustable spring height and rate, and adjustable rebound on the shock. I thought the standard set up was unadjustable.

Sounds like you have a shock that isn't an FZR shock.
