I GOT A RATTLE!!!!

Hi all,
Finally got my 1991 FZR600 Genesis back on the road but now I have an annoying rattle coming from the engine when running.
If I pull the clutch lever in, the rattle goes, but it can still be heard whilst riding the bike at low revs when ever the clutch lever is released.
The biting point on the clutch is right at the end of travel on the lever. I have adjusted the clutch with the screw and locking nut inside the casing, then adjusted the free play at the lever, but it has made no difference to the biting point or the rattle.
So far I have been told the following by people:-

1) The clutch basket is knackered
2) The clutch springs that hold the plates together are weak
3) The clutch plates are worn
4) The clutch cable has stretched
5) Its gearbox chatter, dont worry

I checked the clutch plates whilst the bike was stripped down and they seemed to have plenty of meat on them.

I am due to do 1000 miles on the bike in may and would like to have this sorted or at the very least be sure its not something that is gonna fail or cause a break down during my journey.

Has anybody had anything similar before or could point me in the right direction????

I know my 600 makes a rattle/knockish kinda noise while the clutch is let out and i was told this is normal. Again, this is with my 600.

Mine made the weidest noise ever, and I couldnt figure it out. Then one day my buddy said bro when I was riding behind you I could see your chain bouncing. So in the end it was my chain being so loose that caused the clanking srunching noise...So I fixed it and it was all better!

On the left side if your sitting on your bike where the clutch cable goes in there is a cover. Remove it and clean it very well and then adjust your clutch. Once I did this, my rattle went away. I thought it was something more serious.

i have a ??? does the same apply to the 1990 fzr 1000 i meen takeing the left cover off and cleaning real good and ajusting clutch mine make a little bit of noise not alot i didn`t know if the hydrolic clutch was the same or not as the 600 and the 1000 thxs

I would say it's different. The 600 has a cable and not hydraulic clutch. What you are probably hearing this the exup valve in your header.

ok thx man is it normal for it to rattel a bit the clutch works fine its nice and smooth i was just makeing sure thats all thx for the help
