i can't say i agree with everything OBD2 compliant having that ability. I've seen a lot of OBD2 cars with distributors, and from what I understand by what you described above, that can't be done with a distributor. And of all the times that I can think of where I have pulled codes off of OBD2 cars for P0303 (multiple cylinder misfire), they were all running distributorless ignition systems. I'll have to really keep an eye out for that though when I look at cars from now on. I will say I agree with your friend as far as distributorless ignitions go.

it all comes down to the problem of no time. My landlord let me pull my bike under his covered carport area nearby, and there is a huge fluorescent light there where i can work on it at night. But i usually just want to crash after work and don't end up putting the carbs on. Plus i have to pull my forks off and replace the seals, then put my turnsignals on and make a license plate light, because now my safety inspection is past due and i can't ride it (legally) or i'll get pulled over. Once the forks and carbs and everything is good on it. I'm going to post a little video on youtube on how to CLEAN the engine by running transmission fluid instead of oil and putting water in the engine while it's running to clean it. It's not quite as simple as what i said, which is why i'm posting the video. Cleans the junk out of it though, but it can't be done on all engines, i'll explain that stuff in the vid.

oh, and i almost forgot to mention this in the last post. i pulled the yzf600 carbs apart a couple nights ago just to check everything out before putting them on. They have sat for a year. I have never seen carbs so perfect! (in the low mileage sense) I've cleaned A LOT of carbs, mainly for bikes that have sat for a year or are 15 years old and just have a lot of junk in them. High mileage, i've seen green gunk, yellow gunk, white gunk, red gunk, and probably other colors inside the float bowl. I've actually cleaned these carbs before, but they were on a thundercat and were in worse shape. But these, oh man, all of the floats were the same exact height, and all of the floats shifted as one as i tilted the carbs, the slides moved better than any slides i've ever seen. I know these have low miles, and i should expect them to look like this when I open them up. It's just exciting to have carbs this new on my bike! i can't wait to see what they'll do on the bike. Plus, they flow more air, have larger jets, and I just added at least another 10 years on my bike with newer diaphragms! Man, i wanna ride now
