slow starter ?
I just recently put the engine back together after blowing a rod as well as replacing the starter "peanut" cover. Well when I hit the switch to start it all i hear is the pistons going up and down very slowly. Could this be a bad battery, ground to the engine, or is something wrong with the starter cover ?
The starter cover was pretty straight forward to put back on so i doubt its that...maybe its the ground to the motor

How strong is the battery? Try jump starting from a car...

Sounds def like the battery as it has been sitting awhile unless you had it on a bat. tender.then it may need replacing or topping up.sweekster wrote:How strong is the battery? Try jump starting from a car...

Re: slow starter ?
also check your connections on your starter solenoid. Clean them and the battery connections.
I also un plug my headlights for day use... or weak battery. I know they shut off when ya hit the starter button... but when your thumb is off the button they pull juice.
Couldn't hurt.

Re: slow starter ?
Yes very good chance its your battery. However you did mention you had the engine torn down, make sure your mechanical timing is correct too.

THE COST OF YOUR HELMET, IT DEPENTS ON HOW MUCH EXPENSIVE YOU THINK YOUR HEAD IS.
