Carbs, pics

Hey forum, been a while for a post.
I took the carbs off yet again. I bought some of that carb dip cleaner, "chem-dip". put the main and idle jets, carb floats jet holder, and main jet nossle in the dip. They all came out clean, nice. I now want to take apart each of the main bodies of the carbs from each other and dip them, but I'm neverous about pulling them apart, the linkages. I know that I will have to sync them when back together. I have seen a few carb sync videos on youtube, a manometer is used, "carbtune" an Enlish made unit is very popular. The vaccum tubes are hooked up and the bike is run and then a screw is turned to sync 3 and 4 and 1 and 2. My question is where is our vaccum inlet and which screws do I turn. I have an Idea but I want to make sure I'm right.

Has anyone heard of puting a slicon spray on the rubber parts, diapharm, gasket, ets.

Pulling them apart isn't too bad. The carb set on my 1k is made from 3 different sets of carbs. So it can be done. The vacuum port is actually on the intake manifold/boot that is in between the carbs and the cylinder head if I remember correctly. There should be a phillips head screw in it and that's where you thread in the carb synch adapter.

As far the gaskets you don't really have to put anything on them but I've heard of a few "remedies" like soaking them in armoral or coating them with pertroluem jelly before reassembly.

You might want to try electrical contact cleaner for the plastic parts. It's non-caustic, evaporates as quickly as carb cleaner, and doesn't leave a residue. You don't have to disassemble the carbs completely. You could just get a couple of large cans of carb cleaner and a few old tooth brushes or buy a large container of cleaner (think gallon paint can size) and dip the carbs into it. Make sure you blow the carbs with compressed air to dry the cleaner though.

Cad600 I was thinking about just dipping what I had left, (not taken apart) all 4 together; But there appears to be some hard plastic washers on the linkages and the choak plungers look to be plastic. Do you think it is ok to dip them. The chem dip comes in a gallon.

I have all the rubber gaskets removed.

Almost, I don't know who's carb cleaner product you are using but my experiences with dippable carb cleaners is they canl destroy rubber and plastic parts. At least the Berryman's product that I use will. Oobbernasty stuff. My advise proceed with caution.

M N KC Your right, that's what I'm worried about. The plastic parts of the choke plungers and the plastic slide brakets along the choke rail.

What did you guys think of the home made carb sync. I know that I had looked at a post on here where someone had made their own. I will make it and post pics. I will try to make a video of the carb cleaning and sync. There are no videos out there for FZR for this stuff. And I know I learn by watching.

I just picked up some of that electrical contact cleaner, thanks Cad600. I will use it on those plastic inserts that holds the main jet nossle.
