air filter on a 90 fzr600??

Post by 90fzr600nm »

ok so i got to thinking after working on my bike that it should have an air filter... but all it has is the piping going from the nose into the frame then under the gas tank cover and there is nothing covering the carbs... so i looked on bike bandit and it shows a whole setup that resembles a carb setup off of a v8 car engine... is this true??? if so i need to get one... lol... thanks...

I have never seen the inside of an airbox looking like that. IS that PVC and a K&N filter? 90fzr600nm it looks like the thing that shredex posted minus whatever he has going on inside it. And those tubes going into the frame? Those are better known to the fzr community as frame coolers. They do nothing. lol

thats Match417's airbox. he put pvc elbows in there to attach his individual filters.
he wanted to keep the airbox for some reason.
he wrote about it at the bottom of this page

You could probably find someone on here willing to sell you one for cheap. Lots of people remove the stock air box and use pod filters (individual filters on each carburetor). They usually do this in conjunction with a stage 3 jet kit, or bigger main jets. Someone correct me if I'm wrong about anything.

Yes, he may be lucky to find someone with a spare on here, but many people are going back to their stock boxes because of tuning problems with the pods.
