R6 MC Swap today Quick Question

Post by tkclow »

Hey all. I am doing me R6 MC and caliper swap today and just had a quick question, where is they best place to mount the brake resevoir? Where did you guys mount it and what did you use for a bracket? Pics would be awesome if you have them. Thanks for the help

you can run a self tapper in your bar or you can just let it hang. Mine is just dangling and has been llike that for a year now with no problems.

Yamaha george I think has a good solution on his web site.

You can also use a small piece of metal and bend it into an "L" to make a bracket. Then just drill and screw it to the top triple.
Yes, that is a Single Sided Swingarm FZR600 that I built.

Sorry I have no pictures at the moment but I ran a piece of metal used I think to support corners of doors but Im not quite sure. I walked around my local hardware store trying to find a piece of metal L shaped and found it. I drilled 2 holes, one at each of the ends of the L. I then ran the upper of the 2 bolts that holds the r6 lever/master cylinder to the clip-on threw a hole on the bracket with the other hole up and to the left of this mounting position (if you were looking at it from riding position) and used the other hole to bolt the resivour to.

Thats alot of writing for something so simple but its hard to explain without a picture. I had a bad mounting set up before which came loose and detached without me realizing it and the master cylinder didnt go anywhere or spill fluid. So, you can do trial and error without much worries.

Thanks for the info, I got everything on and bled, haven't rode it yet, was getting pretty dark and I'm not sure if it completly bled yet (was dark and was getting tires of holding the flashlight in my teeth). I like it though. I still have to figure out the resevoir mount, I will post some pics when I get that done. I checked Yamaha George's site but it doesn't have a very good pic of the mount but thanks anyway for the ideas.

Zero, Thanks for the pic, thats kinda what I am looking for. Mounted there did you have to lengthen the hose to the res.? I think mine is a little short. Also does it hit the fairing stay when the wheel is all the way to the right? Thanks again. Just trying to figure out best spot so it doesn't hit and also not block temp guage (as much as poss. anyway)

Neither of those things have been an issue for me.
