Need Advice
So currently I am at crossroads.
My chain on my FZR snapped a couple of weeks ago, sent the chain flying into the left side engine casing/ sprocket cover, left a nasty hole, and cracked the actual engine case. Now the thing is, is that I have another spare FZR lying around, most of it is missing but the engine is still good.
Now what I can do is swap the engine from the spare one onto the one that I currently have, and buy a new chain, sprocket, clutch, and other bits and pieces that need fixing. Now what I want to know is, is it worth it to dump another say $700+ into this bike and keep riding it? Or am I better off parting it out? Maybe fixing it then selling it? But, I'm probably not going to get much.
Only reason that I'm asking is that one of my buddies found out about my little fiasco, and is willing to sell me his '05 CBR600RR for $2800.
I'm currently torn between either fixing the FZR or parting it out/selling both of them for the CBR. The bike has done me no wrong for the 5 years that I've owned it...
-Thanks for any Input.

Re: Need Advice
My personal opinion, instead of spending 2800 on the girly honda, spend that money on the Yamaha. They are great bikes, and last forever! Maybe want to part out that old bike when you're done. I may actually be interested in some parts off the old one as well if you've got em.
But I would rather sink 700 into a great bike than 2800 into a mediocre bike at best. But then again, I'm biased to the fizzer.

Harrysf707 got down to your nearest bike dealer and test ride a variety of bikes.
So much depends on why you are riding in the first place.
Asking a bunch of FZR owners if you should get a Honda.

Depends on the mileage and condition. I would rather ride an older bike. I prefer the style. Stay classy San Francisco. Ever go to the Moto Guild on treasure island?

No, I have not. I do plan on going in the future though!Greg57vw wrote:Depends on the mileage and condition. I would rather ride an older bike. I prefer the style. Stay classy San Francisco. Ever go to the Moto Guild on treasure island?
And yeah, the CBR is in good condition, well maintained and only 9K miles, has current registration too. Also, that under-tail exhaust gives me a boner
