okay, so my multimeter doesnt work, a friend borrowed it and blew the fuze. But i pulled the front light bulb out to see if it was bad and it was in good condition. I started the bike with it out and the dash lights came on. i turned it off and plugged in the light, started it up, everything was in good working order. I still need to check the charging voltage, but i was expecting the bulb to be burned out. Does this info change the direction of investigation at all, or just some wild coincidences?

Nope, Your VRR's wiring is Still far from adequate, try fixing it :headscratch:
This - seriously. Not only do you have exposed copper, you could have a dozen internal breaks in that rat's nest!

DonTZ125 wrote:I sell connector adaptors and pigtails to replace messes like you have, but perhaps THIS ebay listing is even better - brand new VRR, plus the mating connector to crimp on to the wires, for less $$ than you'd pay for the R6 VRR plus one of my pigtails. :deal:

You definitely need to do something about those wires, too - there's way too many kinks and bends for my happy place ...

how much do ya sell for pigtails/adaptor for?

The pigtail is $20 + $10 for the postman. This link (also found in my sig below) will take you to a page on my website; you'll find a Paypal clicky there that will cheerfully take your money.

I have the parts in stock, and can have this out the door tomorrow.

So I have some wire tracing to do. But, here is something that has been bothering me. Looks like something is missing here. Anyone know what is missing or what the plug that should go in there is suppose to do?

That is the EXUP servo plug. I assume you have no servo and an aftermarket pipe?

The benefits of the R6 VRR is that it has proper grounding design, internal and external. The poor design of the older VRR makes it very vulnerable to suddenly failing. Failing low means your system undercharges, perhaps leaving you stranded. Failing high means 15-20 volts are flowing through your 12-14 volt harness, ruining everything from bulbs to connectors to the TCI to the tach to the battery. It gets really expensive really fast.

Part of the problems desmarat is having stem more from the utter butchery the previous owner inflicted on the wiring. There have been many people who successfully upgraded their VRRs by clipping the old connector off and crimping on new female spade terminals. The issue here is that the job was done so poorly that arcing and sparking began frying things.

Okay, so i get 13.8 volts at 3000 rpm. Looks like its okay? I believe that is within standards.

Another thing is that i think that i have a valve issue. It sputters a little and i took a pic inside of the exup housing (was removed). You can see gas on the inside of cylinder 4, and when itts running and i put my hand over the exhaust, i get a mist of gas on my hand. Could the exhaust valves be stuck open?

Still workin on her slowly but need it done soon, so damn frustrating! I like the bike and she is fun to ride, i just want to have her back in shape to ride and enjoy!

Thanks for the help in advance!

Heres the pic inside the exup.
