Getting a weird wind up noise from engine
Hey guys i'm kinda at a loss for this and i'm hoping you guys can help me. When my Fzr600 is running and in gear i get a weird wind up noise like a remote control car going as fast as it can. it gets louder the faster the bike is going. there wasn't anything new added to the bike its just the noise is starting to get louder then it was before. it doesn't make the noise when the clutch is in or the bike is in neutral. I'm just wondering if it could mean a bearing needs to be replaced or if anyone has had this kind of problem before.
Re: Getting a weird wind up noise from engine
Ran around on the bike today, it doesn't seem like its coming from the rear wheel or chain and sprockets cuz when i'm at speed and i pull in the clutch the noise goes away. just thinking it could be an air leak whistling or a bearing inside the transmission. But if it was an air leak i would think it would do it while the bike is running and not moving. Has anyone else had this happen?

This subject has been discussed just recently on the forum.
After many suggestions; it was found to be the chain whilst under load.
It did not occur when the chain was free running and not under engine power.

Mine does the same thing. It's most noticible at lower speeds in 1st and 2nd gear. I just eventually settled on it being a normal sound of these bikes. To me it sounds like transmission synchros.
1992 FZR 600R - First real motorcycle. A maintenance nightmare. I still love her though.

that' sounds more like it, because when i'm at speed the tone of the noise changes with the engine rpm instead of the speed i'm going.
