The first official product of TTR Systems is finally ready!

This short harness allows near plug'n'play upgrade from the older 4-pin Voltage Regulator / Rectifier to the improved 5-pin design. Simply plug the male 4-pin connector into the stock harness, plug the 6-pin connector into the new VRR, and run the 12-ga ground wire back to the frame ground lug (follow the black wire from the battery -ve terminal).

Note that the fuse carrier seen in the picture above has been deleted until such time that I can be sure that it won't cause more problems than it solves.

Standard live length is 1" between connectors; longer units can be made for $5 per foot or fraction.

Price is $30 plus shipping.

Edit 6 July 2011: I am now offering a 6" pigtail connection, 16 Gauge in Red, Black, and 3x White, for those who prefer to clip the OEM plug and solder in a replacement. This may be of interest to those who've already modified their harnesses with individual female spade connectors. Price is $15 + shipping.

Edit 30 August 2011: This VRR adaptor harness works with Yamaha part numbers 4JH-81960-00 or -01, or 5SL-81960-00. I've seen other info suggesting it will also work with a 5FL-81960-00 or 5KP-81960-00. It will work with any 3-phase 'shunt' regulator with the same pin arrangement.

These units all use the 4JH-81960-00 or -01 VRR:
'95-99 FZR600
'95-07 YZF600
'98-01 YZF-R1
'99-02 YZF-R6

These units all use the 5SL-81960-00 VRR:
'03-05 R6
'06-09 R6S

These units use the 5FL-81960-00 VRR:
'01-05 FZ1

These units use the 5KP-81960-00 VRR:
'01-10 VStar650

It's about time someone made that in a high quality unit.

Thanks, Darren.

I've been sitting, here and on the Archives, watching multiple posters talk about updating their VRRs, some of whom were scratching their heads and wondering how to do it. Hopefully this will help those who are a little uncertain with wiring.

Where was this a year ago before I hacked off my harness? lol

Hmmm. Do you sell just the 6 pin connectors?

This is awesome but I totally didn't see it until you mentioned it in a post. You should see if you can get the word out on this product somehow, add it to the wiki, sticky it, etc.

thanks. dose this do away with the exup valve?

? It has nothing to do with the EXUP. I am currently pondering an EXUP eliminator that prevents the 4k RPM 'safe mode' that removing the EXUP servo causes in FZR1000s, but I've not been able to get to it yet.
